Grace Bertha Christy

Grace Bertha Christy, 86, of Peninsula, OH was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 15th, 2022.

Grace was born on September 1st, 1936 in Canton, Ohio to two loving parents, Sylvia and Charles Fletcher. She came from a family of 11 siblings, and nothing meant more to Grace than family. She attended Canton McKinley and Timken High School and then married Lester Gene Christy. After raising her three children, she worked with her family at Szalay’s Farm for 42 years and also managed Indian Springs Community for 27 years. She was adored by family, friends, co-workers, and customers for her kind heart and joyful spirit.

Grace loved life! She always had a smile and positive attitude, and more than anything she always had time and love to give whenever it was needed. She was infamous for her jokes and could get the entire room laughing. Grace was the center of our family and lead us by example. She loved us unconditionally, and we were each her favorite.

Grace is survived by her three children: Paula (Christy) Szalay and her husband John, Les Christy and his wife Michele, and Keith Christy. She leaves behind her grandchildren: John Szalay and his wife Amy, Georgia Szalay Downing and her husband John, and Tyler Christy; and four great-grandchildren: Eva(13), Johnny(10), Jake(6), and Alex(4). She is also survived by her brother Edward Fletcher, sister Betty Vogley, and Ruth Fletcher. She leaves behind many other family members and dear friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral services will be held 12p.m. Thursday at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, where friends may visit 10-12.

Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
