Gilbert Bozzelli (Gib) Obituary

Gilbert J. Bozzelli (Gib), 90, went home to be with the Lord and his wife, Mimi, on September 19, 2021.

He was born to Michael and Mabel Bozzelli. Gib was a proud United States Air Force veteran who served with the Twentieth Air Force on Okinawa during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Akron and Cuyahoga Falls. His career as an engineer at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and General Motors/Terex Corporation spanned over 40 years. His professional memberships included the Society of Automotive Engineers, National Limestone Association, National Coal Association, and the American Mining Congress. His knowledge and expertise in his field dubbed him our personal "patron saint of home repair".

Gib and Edie began their love story on September 1, 1956 and enjoyed 64 years together before her passing in November 2020. He is happy and smiling now as he is reunited with his best friend.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Cuyahoga Falls for nearly 60 years. At IHM, he enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie as a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 13517 and Edward J. McFadden Assembly 2953.

Gib was preceded in death by his wife, Mimi (Edie); their infant son, Martin Joseph; his parents, Michael and Mabel; and brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Eleanor.

Gib leaves behind his children, Karen and Jim Campbell, Maura and Jim Bozzelli, and Diane and John Hurley. Papa Gibby lovingly cherished the times when his home was filled with the laughter of his grandchildren, Anthony and Claire Campbell, Michael Hurley, Jack Hurley, Nick Campbell, John Bozzelli, Megan Hurley, Katie Bozzelli, and their great-granddaughter, Millie Emidia.

All who knew Gib treasured his happy smile and the twinkle in his eyes. Always a true "gentle"man, his devotion, wisdom, humility and kindness will be missed by so many.... all the nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends who he loved so much! The family is thankful to all who cared for Dad including Dr. Andrea Cerone, Dr. Michael Bage, Dr. Charles Fuenning, Kristin, Tammy and Loretta of Hospice of the Western Reserve and especially to his friend and caregiver, Penny, and her husband Danny.

The family held a private Mass of Christian Burial. Soon, we will hold a celebration of Mom and Dad's lives that echoes the best of Christmas Eve dinners, family birthday parties, the neighborhood Hairy Buffalo bash, weddings, and graduations!

Donations can be made to the IHM Knights of Columbus Council 13517 C/O Scholarship Fund 1905 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223.
