Fred T. Smith, age 86, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Fred was the son of Tom Smith and Louise Thomas. He retired from the City of Fairlawn, where he worked for many years in the Maintenance Department. Fred was known for his strong work ethic, steady presence, and willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed help.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jane Smith; his parents, Tom Smith and Louise Thomas; his sisters, Mary Givens and Susan Bricker; and his brother, Larry Smith.

He is survived by his loving sisters, Billie Spitaleri and Patty Cartwright; his devoted daughters, Gina (Mike), Tammy (David), and Debbie (Keith); six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Fred was deeply grateful for his best friend Don, who stood faithfully by his side with care and support, and for his eldest daughter Gina, who cared for him endlessly and tirelessly.

Fred enjoyed life and paid it forward as a good provider. He loved his weekly meals at his favorite spot, Farmer Boy, where he shared countless laughs with his favorite servers, Merle and Mary Ann. At home, he could often be found relaxing with his favorite TV shows, cheering on football games or watching drag racing.

Fred will be remembered for his charisma, his humor, and his devotion to family and friends.

A private service will be held in his honor.
