Francis Fearon Obituary

Francis Joseph Fearon

September 15, 1926 to December 01, 2022

Francis Joseph Fearon died on December 01, 2022. He was predeceased by his son, Francis John (Debbie); and his sister, MaryAnne Purcell. He is survived by Connie, his wife; and 8 of his children, Patrick (Mary) of Orinda, CA, Tim (Helene) of Phoenix, AZ, Kevin (Vicki) of Fairlawn, OH, Peggy (Tim) Melhus of Fairlawn, OH, Connie (Jim) Sliwinski of Salt Lake City, UT, Matt (Mary) of Sammamish, WA, Mary (Jim) Huscroft of Carmel, IN, and Megan Fearon of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He is survived by 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Frank was born on Sept. 15, 1926 to Frank and Margaret Fearon in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Kensington High School in New Kensington PA in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served as a Staff Sgt in Panama for two years. Following his discharge, he attended St. Vincent College and Duquesne University, graduating as a pharmacist in 1951. He married Connie Sullivan and was called back to active duty a month later. He served two years as a 1st Lieutenant in Korea where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor. He then returned to Cuyahoga Falls, raising his family for 40 years until he retired to the Granger Lake condos.

Frank was a lifelong member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and St. Hilary Catholic Church. Frank loved and lived life to the fullest. He entertained his children with his love of animals, often coming home with goats and donkeys from unknown locations in the back of his car, or with live fish swimming in a plugged kitchen sink. Frank didn’t meet a problem that couldn’t be solved with a roll of duct tape. He led by example with his love of travel, circling the globe with his family well into his 80s, no mountain too tall, no hike too long, no drive or flight too exhausting. He charmed his grandchildren with his quick wit and dark humor, leading some well into adulthood before realizing one could not in fact catch a rabbit by sprinkling salt on its tail. He had a great love of food, especially desserts, could be found with cookies of indeterminable age and origin in his pockets, and would seemingly disappear when his wife insisted vegetables be finished before dessert would be served. But his greatest love was Connie, his partner in life, adventure, and Christ for 71 years.
