Dorothy Moats, 97, went to be with the Lord on November 13, 2019.
She was born and raised in Parkersburg, WV, where she was in nursing school when she met Erwin,on a blind date. They married in 1942 and she followed him from Army base to Army base until he was sent to India in WW II.
After the war they settled in Topeka, Kansas then finally in Cuyahoga Falls where she and Erwin raised their family. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 63 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Albert Plate, and brother, Ken.
She is survived by son, William (Lina) Moats; daughters, Ruthie Keller, Ellen (Edward) Turner, Mary (Kevin) Broderick; grandchildren, Alison (Dave) Stamitoles, Eric (Ann) Turner, Aaron (Stacie) Moats, Justin (Victoria) Broderick and Neil (Gina) Broderick; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Elena Turner, Weston and Fiona Moats, Luke Stamitoles , Joshua Aria Broderick and Ava Broderick.
Dorothy was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother. Her grandson described her as a dynamic woman! She cared for Erwin for over 9 years after his illness. She missed him everyday after he was gone and is now joining him in heaven.
The family would like to give special thanks to Marty from Visiting Angels whom over the last 3 years was a wonderful caregiver and helper to Dorothy at Mary's home.
Pastor Paul Frerichs will officiate funeral services 11am Saturday, Nov. 23rd at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th Street Cuyahoga Falls,OH 44221, where friend may 10-11am.
Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
