Emma Jean Halachoff McCurry 100, passed away on Wednesday November 26, 2025, at Rockynol in Akron.
The daughter of John and Elsie Underwood she was born on March 9, 1925, in Akron, Ohio.
She attended Garfield High School and the University of Akron. She worked at O’Neil’s, May Co. and Macy’s at the Stow-Kent Plaza location. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Akron.
Emma Jean was a member of many Clubs and Organizations. She belong to the Akron City Women’s Club and served on committees such as Children’s Hospital Harness Race, Women’s City Cub Theater and the Akron Holiday Tree Festival. She also belong to the Akron City Symphony Orchestra Organization, The University of Akron Women’s Organization, the City of Kent Garden Club and the Red Hat Society.
Emma Jean loved to dance. She was also very artistic and used those talents around the holidays, making Christmas wreaths and decorating Christmas trees that were on display at the John S. Knight center in Akron. Most of all Emma Jean will be remembered for her love and devotion to family.
Preceded in death by George Halachoff and Jere McCurry. Sisters Doris Underwood Logan, Elsie Underwood Oldfield, brother John Underwood Jr. and son David Halachoff. She is survived by her brother Jim Underwood, son Dennis Halachoff in Pine Az, daughters Denise Sieverts in Akron and Kimberly (David) Alspach in Kent, Ohio. Grandchildren Jared (Tiffany) Alspach in Streetsboro, Kevin (Taylor) Alspach in Green, Danielle (Ian) Frye in Uniontown, Derek Halachoff in Stow and one great grandchild Mason Alspach. Also, many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held 11am on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd Fairlawn, OH 44333, where friends may call one hour before service time.
Entombment Rose Hill Burial Park.
