Emily (Silvestri) Nemeth

Emily Nemeth, 90, of Cuyahoga Falls passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, May 23, 2026, at Akron City Hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gaetano and Maria Silvestri, and her husband Steve Nemeth. She is survived by her children Steve (Denise) Nemeth of Massillon, Vince (Sherri) Nemeth of Cuyahoga Falls, and Lisa (David) Hofacker of Akron. Emily was loved by her three grandchildren, Evan, Justin, and Julia Hofacker, sister Anna (John) Petzker of Cuyahoga Falls, brother Vince (Sylvia) Silvestri of Gallatin, Tennessee, brother-in-law and sister-in law Joe and Helen Nemeth of Canton, and nieces and nephews. Emily finished her schooling in her hometown of Carovilli, Italy.  Emily‘s main trade was a seamstress. Emily arrived in this country in 1956 and spent the majority of her career at O’Neill 's department store in Akron, Ohio. She worked for many alteration companies as she mastered her trade. She learned from her father Gaetano Sylvestri, who was one of the finest tailors, which brought them to the United States. Her hobbies included cooking, spending quality time with her family, and playing card games and bingo with her friends. Emily enjoyed making her favorite dishes of lasagna, Italian wedding soup, homemade pasta, pizza, and Italian cookies. Emily loved to go to bingo, card parties, bus tours to the casino, and attend her grandchildren's functions. 

The family would like to give special thanks to Mulberry Gardens Senior Living in Munroe Falls, Ohio for all the care and support that you gave our Mom. The family would also like to thank Summa Center for Senior Health Staff, Akron City Hospital, palliative care and hospice for their special care, and attention they provided for her. 

Mass of Catholic burial will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls & Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends will be received from 4:30 to 7:30 PM, Friday, May 29, 2026, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.
