Elizabeth Sara Whitmyer, 53, passed away unexpectedly at Akron General Hospital, early in the morning on Tuesday, March 15th, surrounded by her family.
Liz was born in Ravenna, Ohio on June 30th, 1968. She was raised in Suffield, Ohio and graduated from Field High School in 1986, and attended college at Kent State University to study geology and history. She worked as a waitress for most of her life, but her creative spirit found a voice in making jewelry through her company, Weezie's. For years, she sold her jewelry across the Akron area.
She thoroughly enjoyed the company of her pet cats Tucker and Baby-Squirrel. Liz cared deeply about humane treatment of animals, social justice for people, and the well-being of the environment, and appreciated good food and drink, especially with her friends, and it would be remiss to not mention her infatuation for the musical Hamilton. She will be remembered for her lifelong devotion to her two sons, Haydn and Elliot, her sister Lisa and her children, Robert, Mark, and Scott, and her many other nephews and nieces. All those who knew her will miss her especially for her fabulous meals, most notably on holidays and at family gatherings.
Elizabeth is survived by her mother Sarah Lockhart, her sister and best friend Lisa (Rob), her ex-husband, dear friend, and father of her children, Walter Whitmyer, many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as countless friends who were very dear to her.
