Elizabeth (Betty) Jane McShane
Elizabeth (Betty) Jane McShane born August 18th, 1931, passed away peacefully at her home on May 8, 2021. She was the eldest child of Jack(AC) and Mary Deluca. She attended St. Martha’s grade school and graduated from St. Vincent high school.
She married Patrick McShane, Sr. on April 2, 1951, together they had eight children.
Betty Jane and Pat sacrificed a lot to give their children a Catholic education. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for many years and was very proud that Patrick, her eldest son, became a Catholic priest. Betty was a volunteer at Christ Child Society and enjoyed attending sporting events, especially football games at Walsh Jesuit high school.
Betty or “Rosie” as her husband loved to call her, enjoyed cooking Italian meals for her friends and family. She claimed that she learned to cook meatballs at age 8 at her parents Italian restaurant, DeLuca’s Bismarck on North Hill. The love of family, friends and Betty’s strong faith allowed her to live an amazing long life. We will always remember her sense of humor...she loved to laugh!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick (Big Red) McShane, Sr.; parents, Jack (AC) and Mary (Lenhert) DeLuca; siblings, Grace Spada, Carol Raines, Francis Logsdon and Thomas DeLuca. Her son, Father Patrick McShane Jr., passed away in 2011 and her grandson Christopher McShane, in 2019.
She is survived by three siblings,Kathleen (Rudy) Backer, Bill (Barb) DeLuca and Victoria Bravo. Also surviving are seven children, Kathleen Strodtman of Cuyahoga Falls, Dr. Michael (Kim) McShane of Upper Arlington Ohio, Mary Beth (Kevin) Finan of Dublin Ohio, Joseph McShane of Cuyahoga Falls, Daniel (Jamie) McShane of Kent, Timothy (Mary) McShane of Akron and Anne Marie McShane of Cuyahoga Falls. She dearly loved her 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
