Eleanor Gaeta passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 100.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; her son, Philip; her parents, John and Josephine Seminerio; her brother, Frank; her sister-in-law, Donna; her sister, Carol; and her brother-in-law, James Swartz. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Gaeta. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Eleanor lived a full and vibrant life. As a child, she loved going to the movies with her cousins and then recreating the shows with singing and dancing performances for her family. After graduating from school, she worked at Firestone as a surveillance balloon draftsman during World War II, where she also met her husband, Louis. Together, they made their home in Tallmadge, Ohio, and with their son, Philip, shared many happy years, especially on the golf course and in the company of family and friends.
Eleanor was a woman of strength and resilience, outliving her husband, son, and siblings. After Louis’s passing, she began writing poetry to express her creativity about her husband and her life. She also had a playful spirit—once, while helping move her mother into a senior facility, she broke out into a lively chicken dance, perhaps to remind everyone she was still young at heart.
She remained curious and determined even in her later years, learning to use a tablet at the age of 90. With the love and support of her devoted nephew, Mike, her dear friend, Merry Ann, and other nieces and nephews, Eleanor was able to remain independent and surrounded by love and care.
In her final years, she lived at Cardinal Village, where she was blessed with many friendships. Eleanor was always glamorous—she loved elegant clothing, never went without her makeup, and always carried herself with grace. Even at a simple meal, she was sure to be beautifully dressed and “decked out.”
Eleanor’s strength, elegance, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
