Elaine Wulff Obituary

Elaine Marie Wulff (Maynard) died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, in Akron, OH at the age of 69 due to complications from a stroke.

Elaine is survived by her father, Blair E Maynard residing in Toronto, OH, and brother Blair P Maynard; children Paul (Sarah) Wulff along with grandchildren Selina (19), Sophia (18), and Grayson (13) from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and Patrick (Hannah) Wulff currently residing in Lakeland, FL along with her Grand puppy Bigby; She also leaves behind her two dogs Barton and Bucky. She is preceded in death by her mother Patricia Maynard (Huber), and sister Leslie Warren (Maynard).

Elaine was born on May 24th, 1955, in Akron, Ohio. She is a graduate of Revere High School where she was a multi-letter winner as a majorette, and the University of Akron with a degree in Education. She taught in the Fairlawn/Montrose and Akron area for most of her adult life and aside from the teaching element, she was always helping students in need with supplies, uniforms, and even paying for students to attend field trips to Washington DC.  She also had the privilege to become a member of the Stow-Munroe Falls Board of Education in the pursuit of bringing the best support to aid students in getting the best education they could.

Elaine was so passionate about teaching that no matter the conversation with family or friends, she always related the discussions to a story about her students. She was always bragging about student successes, lesson plan development, and found herself consulting with her son Paul, who followed in her footsteps and became an educator himself, regarding Special Education law, and best practices to help students with disabilities.

Her children and grandchildren remember her as a strong willed, patient, and caring mother and grandma (aka Grandmamuah or “Muah” for short). She would do anything for them, no matter the cost, sacrifice, or time, and always encouraged them to pursue their dreams no matter the obstacles in their path. She was always a cheerleader for them all and would always be seen on the sidelines at every soccer and football game, track meets, gymnastics competitions, tennis matches, and in the audience with a standing ovation at every play and musical.

Away from the classroom, she worked for the Richfield Coliseum as an usher for 19 years and got to witness everything from professional sports to the entertainment of the Ice Capades, Circus, and concerts. She also loved Disney and would visit Walt Disney World whenever she could with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite attractions were, It’s a Small World and Carousel of Progress, which she was fortunate to see at the World’s Fair in 1964 in New York with her parents and would always tell stories of visiting these attractions before they were added to Walt Disney World. Her favorite characters were always the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood, especially Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger. She was a very skilled singer who loved singing songs from Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, and The Music Man, and who also played guitar and piano.
