Earlene Ann Szeles
Known as Enie, Mena and the dancing Grandma to her family and friends, angels carried Earlene Ann Szeles to eternal life with the Lord at the age of 96 on May 24, 2019, joining her husband William who died in 1961. She was the oldest of 8 children and lived in Akron her entire life.
She was strong and kind, and worked for decades at Firestone, in private event catering and taking in ironing to provide for her family as a young, widowed mother.
Known for her pies and persistence, she instilled the values of hard work and love in each of her 5 children, Michael (Mary), Anne (Patrick), Bill (Rosemary), Kathleen (Art) and Robert (Lisa); 16 grandchildren, and 10.5 great-grandchildren.
Her family, including 2 surviving sisters, will remember her for her dedication to her children, love for life, service to St. Hilary’s Church, and fierce independence. She enjoyed good health up until a month before her death at home with family.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. Fairlawn,OH 44333, 11:30am Friday, May 31, with visitation at St Hilary Church from 10:30-11:30.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Hilary Church.
