Dorothy Irene Rauckhorst, 92, passed away on October 11, 2022 after a short illness.
Dorothy was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from St. Mary High School. Following high school, Dorothy became a religious sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) Community in Monroe Michigan. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Marygrove College and a Masters in Biology from the University of Detroit. While a member of the IHM Sisters, she taught first grade in several Catholic Schools in the Detroit area. In the mid 80’s Dorothy continued her ministry as a lay person by teaching at schools on the west side of Cleveland. Following her retirement as a teacher, she was a member of the staff at St. Joseph Parish in Stongsville, where she was an active member for 35 years. Dorothy resided at Mount Alverna Village for the last four years.
She was a person of deep faith.
Dorothy will be remembered for her dedication to her teaching ministry and her love of the children she taught. Family was everything to Dorothy and she thoroughly enjoyed all her experiences with family. She was an avid reader and had a wonderful smile. She loved the outdoors, especially the fall colors.
Preceded in Death by parents, Richard and Margaret; sisters, Loretta (George) Hudak, Margaret (James) Abbott, and Joanne Lynn
She is survived by brothers, Richard Jr. (Patricia dec) Rauckhorst and Jerry (Cheri) Rauckhorst; brother-in- law, Michael Lynn; 20 nephews and nieces and numerous great nephews, nieces and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:30a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenmore.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
