Claudia Cooke 

June 2, 1943 – July 11, 2024

Claudia Joan Cooke, (81) passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia. She 

was born in 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio, to George and Ardell Winfield. She met the love of her life,

Dave Cooke, when she was 16 and they married shortly after she graduated from high school.

Claudia retired from Bridgestone/Firestone and spent the rest of her days enjoying life. A few of

her favorite things included the color blue, anything chocolate, and the Cleveland Browns. Love

was at the center of every action, thought, and word from Claudia. She was a devoted, fun, and

thoughtful person to all, with her family always first in her heart.

She is fondly remembered teaching her family what it truly means to make you feel at home -

always welcoming you with a smile, a hug, and ending visits with a wave. She held traditions as

close to her heart as she did her family, continuing her mother’s recipe of homemade donuts

each Halloween. Christmas Eve to Christmas Day sleepovers were filled with treats, music, and

holiday magic. Grandma and Grandpa Cooke’s home was the haven for family celebrations and

cousin sleepovers, always stocked with her children’s and grandchildren’s favorite snacks.

When they weren’t busy being the best parents and grandparents, Claudia and Dave loved to

travel the US, visit the beach with friends, vacation at Disney to visit their Florida family, and

play the slot machines. At the end of the day, they were happy just spending time with each

other together as lifelong friends.

Claudia’s memory will live on in each smile, hug, and kind word exchanged among family and

friends.

Claudia is preceded in death by her husband Dave, grandson Cory, her parents, her sisters

Loretta and Georgia and their spouses, and niece Kim. She is survived by sons Dave (Mary)

and Jeff; and daughter Jennifer (Jason); grandchildren Joe, Tricia, Tom, Kathleen, Sean,

Mallory, Shea, and Victoria, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
