It is with great sadness that the Scheatzle family announces the passing of Charles Andrew Scheatzle on November 11, 2025, at Mulberry Gardens Memory Care in Munroe Falls. Charles was 81. Our beloved father and husband will be greatly missed.
Born March 29, 1944, in Akron to George and DeAlma Scheatzle, Chuck attended Archbishop Hoban High School and graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1967. Chuck married the love of his life, Mary, in January of 1966. They lived in Akron, OH, Union City, TN and Bridel, Luxembourg before settling their growing family in Cuyahoga Falls in 1972. Chuck and Mary have a lively group of friends in addition to their expansive extended family.
From a young age Chuck loved building and fixing things and solving problems. He used these talents to help design, build, acquire and maintain facilities as an electrical engineer for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company from 1967-2015. Goodyear gave Chuck opportunities to see the world. A small sampling of his travels includes Mexico City, Brazil, China, South Africa, India, East Germany and France.
Chuck sought out things to fix. He was always on call to help his family and friends with anything from wiring a house to fixing a broken heart. He had a special place in his heart for each of his grandkids. He loved reading and drawing with them, playing lively games of ping pong, board games, or euchre, and tossing the frisbee while discussing how he was keeping the squirrels from invading the bird feeder.
At age 65 Chuck was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He fought a good fight against this cruel disease for 16 years.
Chuck is survived by his wife Mary Scheatzle (nee Guenther), daughter Christine (Joseph) Ball, sons Andrew (Megan) Scheatzle and Keith (Shannon) Scheatzle, grandchildren David Scheatzle, Carter Scheatzle, Julia Scheatzle, Ivy Scheatzle, and Beau Scheatzle. Chuck is also survived by his sisters Joyce (Steve) Rajki, Ellen Bonewitz and brother David (Brenda) Scheatzle.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and DeAlma, sister Kathleen and stepmother Jane Canode-Scheatzle.
We would like to thank the Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion, Mulberry Gardens and Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 4pm at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH where friends may call from 2pm until the time of the service.
