C. Gordon Ewers

C. Gordon Ewers passed away peacefully on November 15, 2021 after an extended illness. Gordon was born on April 2, 1940. Gordon began his career in sales at the M. O’Neil Company during his high school years in 1956 and was promoted to assistant buyer while in college at Kent State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in economics in 1964. Gordon then became a buyer for the company from 1964 to 1973 in a capacity as merchandise manager from 1973 to 1975. In 1975, Gordon commenced a

new career as first Vice President of investments at the Prudential Securities until 2000. Gordon then joined Merrill Lynch as a first Vice President until his retirement in 2018. Gordon treasured his relationships with all of his clients many of whom became his friends and confidantes. Gordon's first and
only love was Kathleen Ewers, his wife, whom he married in 1964 and enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage until her death in 2008. Gordon and Kathy were involved in numerous civic organizations which was their passion throughout their lifetimes. Gordon was a board member of the Akron Art Museum and served as president from 1992 to 1993 and a board member of Hale Farm and Village in which he chaired the board from 1994 to 2000. Gordon also served as a board member for Stan Hywet Hall and
Gardens, the Western Reserve Historical Society, Our Lady of the Elms Sisters of St. Dominic, Summa Foundation and the Lehner Family Foundation. Gordon was a kind and gentle man whose unique laugh and kind smile endeared him to everyone he met. Gordon was predeceased by his wife, Kathleen Ewers; his brothers, Darrell Ewers, Roger Ewers and his parents, J. Leonard Ewers and Helen (Zolman) Ewers.
Gordon is survived by nieces and nephews, Lorri Ewers, Randal (Nancy) Ewers and Michael (Carol) Ewers.
The family and friends would like to acknowledge Robin Compton who provided years of support and care for Gordon.

Family and friends will honor Gordon's life at a memorial service on December 6, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home at 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, OH with Reverend Steve Brunovsky presiding at the service. The family and friends will be available between 9:30 and 11:30 to welcome friends. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the Akron Art Museum or the Summa Foundation
