Beverly J Yergin, 81 went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2024. She lived in Akron all her life except for 2 years spent in Japan. She graduated from Akron Garfield High School in 1960 and worked numerous jobs over the years at Firestone Tire and Rubber, Akron Eagles 555, eventually retiring from Akron Children’s Hospital in 2009.
Bev was a selfless, caring person who loved her family dearly and sacrificed greatly to spoil those she loved. Holidays were filled with gifts and love, birthdays and other special occasions always included a special note, carefully crafted from the heart. A note to her grandchildren, written in her final days, was found the day she passed, “Grandkids – if you only knew how much these little moments with you mattered to me – I love you.” She cherished every moment with family and friends until the end.
Bev spent many summers at Jindra’s landing, sitting around the fire and playing euchre and bingo at the pavilion. She enjoyed singing along to her favorite music, even if she wasn’t quite sure of the words. As a sports fan, she loved to watch the Indians, Browns, and Buckeyes and traveled extensively to watch her grandkids compete. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles Jolly, Clara Schoenstein, and Donald Schoenstein; brother, Bobby Jolly; and great-grandson, Oliver Paul Coldiron. She is survived by her son, Harvey (Carrie) Yergin III; daughters, Kelly VanScyoc, and Kathy (Dave) Pickering; grandchildren, Harvey (Amie) Yergin IV, Phillip (Stacey) Yergin, Seth (Vanessa) Yergin, Micah (Brittany) Yergin, Alexis (Jason) Coldiron, David Pickering II, Sydney VanScyoc, and Ashley VanScyoc; great-grandchildren, Madalayna Pickering, Brinley Yergin, David Pickering III, Harvey Yergin V, Clara Yergin, Austin Yergin, Alton Yergin, Memphis Coldiron, and Milo Yergin. She also leaves behind her loving sister Barbara and several nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the care provided by the Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams at Ohio Living Rockynol, and extends a special thank you to Lisa, her friend and personal aid over the last several years.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday January 12, 2024 at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn 44333. Funeral service will be at the funeral home 11:00 A.M. Saturday with Brad Deetscreek officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery.
