Betty Seiler Obituary

Betty L. (Bates) Seiler, 98, of Norton, passed away July 31, 2025, after a long and full life.

Born on March 15, 1927, in Akron, Betty grew up dreaming of graduating, working, falling in love and raising a family. She fulfilled each of these: graduating from Buchtel High School, working at Ohio Bell, marrying her beloved husband, John A. “Bud” Seiler, Jr., and becoming a devoted mother and homemaker. Later, she contributed to the family business by doing bookkeeping for her husband’s and son's Star, Sparkle, Apples and Giant Eagle supermarkets.

Betty was an avid bowler and slot player, and a past member of the Akron City Women’s Club. She enjoyed traveling, family fishing trips in Canada and lively card games with her club. A loyal fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Guardians, she rarely missed a game. Above all, she most enjoyed time spent with loved ones whether playing games or gabbing in conversation. We will treasure our memories and the love we shared with her.

As the last surviving family member of her generation, Betty now reunites with her husband and best friend, Bud, along with many cherished relatives and friends who preceded her in passing.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her children, Jeff (Saralyn), Mark (Karen) and Eric (Gerri); grandchildren, Tristan (Derek), Rachel (Tom), Andrew (Jonathan) and their mother Laura, Aubrie (Danny) and Jacob; step grandchildren, Matt (Stephanie) and Alicia (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Rowan, Weston, Adalynn, Brynlee, Chesney, Darrow and Easton; step-great-grandchildren, Marilyn, Bailey, Maddox and Ryleigh; nieces, Rosemarie (John) and Lynn (Bill); nephew, Craig; and dear friends, Kay and Katie.

The family extends special thanks to Betty’s caregivers, especially Karla, as well as the staff of Arbors of Fairlawn and Suncrest Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A private family service will be held Wednesday, August 6, with interment at Rose Hill Burial Park in Fairlawn.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Betty’s memory.
