Fairlawn – Betty L. O’Hara, age 82, passed away on March 5, 2026, following a more than five-year courageous breast cancer battle.
Born on July 2, 1943, in Akron, OH to the late William and Louise (Abood) Dean, Betty was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, a longtime resident of Bath Township, and member of St. Sebastian Parish and choir. Additionally, Betty was a member of the Junior League of Akron where she helped open Plant Place (flower shop) at Akron City Hospital and Friends in Harmony Choir. She was a fabulous gardener with a passion for flowers of all kinds. Her loves included her family, Atwood Lake, boating, gardening, water aerobics, friends, parties, shopping, shoes, and life in general. Known for being extremely generous and a little wild and crazy in the best sense, Betty was a proud and loving “Grammy” of 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way! Betty’s words to live by were these: Life is truly beautiful not because of your happiness alone, but because of the happiness you give others.
Preceded in death by beloved husband, Patrick O’Hara, in 2014, she is survived by son Michael O’Hara (Lisbeth) and daughters Kimberly O’Hara Cristofoli (Ed) and Kellie O’Hara. The loving grandmother of Andrew O’Hara (Faith), Alex O’Hara (Liz), Mackenzie O’Hara (Julie), Clark Cristofoli (Katie), Cameron Cristofoli (Jessica), Breea Cristofoli, and Dawson O’Hara, Betty is also survived by sisters Joyce Feinman, Kathleen Adams, and sister-in-law Carroll Wiener (John).
