Betty Holshue Obituary

Betty J. (Harmon) (Fisher) Holshue

Betty was born on 09-06-1945 and passed away peacefully on 05-04-2024.

Betty met her beloved husband, Richard in 1979. As soon as he saw her, he fell in love. Soulmates from the moment they laid eyes on one another; they wed on June 19th, 1981. Not only did he love her, he loved her daughters. Stepping in as a fully committed father, raising Betty’s girls right along side her. Whatever they did, they enjoyed it so long as they were together. She loved him with such devotion and tenacity. Richard would walk to the ends of this earth for anything she needed. Their love is unwithering and undying and even though she has passed, she will remain by her husband’s side for eternity. We all can only hope to have the love that they shared, it is a love we should all strive for.

The most valued role in Betty’s life was being a mother. She lovingly and dutifully raised her three daughters Ellen, Marilyn and Theresa whom she had with her late, first husband Gerald Fisher who passed when the girls were young. She loved and cherished Gerald’s children from his previous marriage as much as her own. Throughout their lives she was their biggest cheerleader, lifted them up every time they fell, supported them through losses, illness and motherhood. She laughed with them, cried with them, held them. You can tell how well she raised her daughters in the fact that she was a best friend to them even into adulthood. She continued to be their number one support, their confidante. She was the one they called to share both good news and bad; to joke with, gossip or lean on. The holes in their hearts are twice as big as they lost not just a mother, but a best friend.

Betty took her role as grandmother just as seriously as being a mother. First came Avery, followed by Jonathan, Jordan and Catherine. The joy they brought to her life was substantial. She doted on and celebrated them until her passing. Together with Richard, they raised Avery in every bit the same awe-inspiring and loving manner as their daughters. She instilled unconditional, unwavering love and devotion in her grandchildren that is now shown to Betty’s great grandsons, Jackson and Luciano. Because of Betty that love and those values will be passed onto every generation thereafter.

Betty loved going to concerts with her beloved husband Rich, playing cards with family and especially enjoyed camping at the lake. Her favorite team was the Cleveland Guardians, never missing a game. One of Betty’s favorite things was having her family all together. Her and Richard spent many holidays and vacations with her in-laws and she loved all of them as if she were born into their family.

She never missed an opportunity to support any and everyone. She lived and breathed to love others. She was a friend to all. She was pure and to know her was to love her.

The pain of losing Betty is palpable and felt in magnitudes.
