Anita D. Moorehead

Born on June 16, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, daughter of Georgia and Russel Ellinger, Mrs. Moorehead was preceded in death by her brother Robert Ellinger, son James Shannon, her daughter Marta Sletvold, and husband Hamilton Moorehead. She leaves daughter Dana Carver (Ernest) and son Marc Lee Shannon (Kimina). She leaves grandchildren Jason Manna, Keith (Janel) Sletvold,  Michelle Sletvold, Peter Shannon (Brittani), Taylor Shannon, Jackson Shannon, Harrison Shannon, and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. 

She was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in several secretarial positions and rose to Day Manager of Firestone Country Club, a job that very few women of the time were presented with at that tier of responsibility. She was sharp-minded, extremely well-read, and could carry a conversation on any topic with a level of intelligence that was admired by many. 

She was a true giver of her time and intention and was involved with several charitable organizations in Akron, Stan Hywet, Akron General Hospital Women's' Board and Witan. In Florida, she was active with Martin Memorial Hospital. She loved the game of golf and played ardently. 

The Family will greet guests for viewing on Sunday, June 30, from 2-5 p.m. at Ciriello Carr Funeral Home in Fairlawn, Ohio. Funeral Services will be the following day at 10 a.m. also at Cirello Carr, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery immediately following.
