Alia Karam
Alia Karam, age 87, passed away May 3, 2021, in Lexington, KY where she lived for the last ten years. She was born October 3, 1933 in Kherbet Qanafar, Lebanon and lived the majority of her life in Akron, Ohio. She was a member of St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church.
Alia immigrated to the United States by way of Brazil when she was in her early 20s. She was married and raised four children. She spent the majority of her working life at Fallsview Hospital where she would eventually retire. Alia’s greatest attribute was her loyalty. She was dedicated to her family, friends, and St. Joseph’s Church. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, strength, and love for her family. Although living far apart she and her sister Suad visited frequently and shared a very special relationship. She loved watching her Cleveland Indians and “those dumb Cleveland Browns.” Never goodbye, but we’ll see you soon, Sitto. As Alia would say, “That’s it for a bit!”
Preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Barbara Jaber; brothers, Milhem and Ibrahim; sister, Latify; infant son, Daniel; and granddaughter, Anna.
Survived by her sister, Suad Khalif (Samir); children, Michael (Tammy), Joseph (Norma), Sandra Haines (Carl), Phil (Melissa); grandchildren, Michael, Sarah,Tyler, Joe (Deanna), Alex, Sam, Natalie, Molly, Jack, Olivia, Luke, Audrey, Ella, Aden, and Brady; and 2 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind extened family members and many dear friends.
We would like to thank Bluegrass Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
