Agnes McIntyre passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 19th, 2024 at the age of 102. She was surrounded by her adoring family. Agnes was known for her genuine delight in simple pleasures, like savoring Tootsie Pops, reading a good book, and enjoying the companionship of her beloved dog, Candy. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was as steadfast as her joy in life's small pleasures.
Agnes was born in Starford, Pennsylvania. She was the last remaining survivor of her six siblings. She was also the first in her family to attain a high school diploma. She left her parents’ farm and came to Ohio to find work. She was a “Rosie the Riveter” during the war. She met and married her husband of 67 years, William McIntyre (deceased).
Their children, Patricia, William “Butch”, Kathleen, and Bridget were her life. Her love of God and family were apparent in every aspect of her life. From holiday gatherings, camping, picnics and game nights with family and friends she was always the gracious and fun-filled hostess.
In addition to working full-time over the years (Goodyear/Goodrich), she always found the time to make special outfits for her young daughters every Easter. She was also known for her beautiful afghans which have warmed her children and grandchildren over the years.
A birthday would never go by without feeling you were extra special. She would make sure that you would have your favorite meal, cake or pie (home-made) and a gift for your special day.
Agnes was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William; her daughter, Patricia; and her granddaughters, Christine and Jennifer.
She is survived by son, William “Butch” (Mena) McIntyre, Kathleen (Tom) Wilson, Bridget (Ed) Johnson, son-in-law Tom Bailey, as well as grandchildren, Michael (Angie) Bailey, Michelle, Dino (Sarah), Lisa (Silas) Hite, Lisa Wilson (Michael Sobota), and great-grandchildren Taylor, Monica, Michael, Gavin, Madison, Jacob, Marcus, Davey, and Janae as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5th, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM before the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Shriners Hospitals for Children.
