Sister Rosemarie Robinson, OP

Sister Rosemarie Robinson, the former Margery Anne Robinson, died at the age of 89 on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Regina Health Center, Richfield, OH. She was the daughter of George and Anne Robinson and entered the Sisters of St. Dominic, now Dominican Sisters of Peace, from St. Dominic Parish, Youngstown on September 1, 1947. She was in her 70th year of religious profession. Sister Rosemarie was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms High School and received her BSE and MA from St. John College, Cleveland.

Sister Rosemarie taught at St. Bernard, St. Paul, Our Lady of the Elms Elementary, Akron; St. Felicitas,Cleveland; and St. Augustine, Barberton. From 1965-69 she served as principal at St. Augustine, Barberton, and at SS. Peter & Paul, Doylestown from 1981-83.

She served her Dominican Sisters in the capacity by being elected second Councillor of her Congregation in 1969 and from 1973-81 was elected President of the Sisters of St. Dominic. As President, she initiated the Lay Advisory Board on Finance for the Congregation. From 1991-97, Sister Rosemarie was Treasurer of the Elms Schools and Motherhouse. As a member of the Finance Commission for many years, her insights and expertise proved most beneficial. Sister served as Business Manager of Our Lady of the Elms School and Personnel Director of Lay Employees.

From 1983-89, she served as Co-Delegate for Religious and from 1989-91 as Delegate for Religious for the Diocese of Cleveland. During this time, she was chairperson for the Health Care Committee that was formed by the Conference of Religious Leadership in the Cleveland Diocese to coordinate health care for the elderly Sisters. She was instrumental in starting Regina Health Center, a diocesan health care center for priests and religious sisters who needed skilled care.

Sister in survived by sisters, Anita Watson, Coletta and Sister Bernadine Robinson, OP.
Preceded in death are brothers, George and Richard, and sisters, Eileen Macupa, Kathleen and Rosemary.

Per her request cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Elms Convent Chapel, 1230 W. Market St., Akron on Thursday, December 6 at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
