Joseph V. DiGiammarino

Joseph V. DiGiammarino passed away peacefully September 21, 2018 after complications from a stroke.

He was born May 10th, 1931 in Akron,Oh and was a lifelong resident.

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

On a blind date December 10th 1960, he met the love of his life, Helen Kovacs.  They were married October 7th, 1961,  raised two children, Jon and Debbie, and remained together until his passing.

Joseph spent his early work career in factory jobs before becoming an employee of the Akron Public Schools, where he retired from in 1997, as plumbing department foreman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clemente; mother, Helen; brother, Frank, and sister, Rose.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Helen DiGiammarino; son, Jon J. DiGiammarino; daughter, Debbie Dearth (DJ Richards); brother, William (Dee) DiGiammarino; sister, Dorothy Murdock, as well as many loving brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would also like to thank Summa Health for the wonderful care they took of Joseph in his final days.

Calling hours Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2-4 & 5:30-8pm at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd, Fairlawn,OH 44333, where funerals services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Interment service to follow in the Holy Family Chapel Mausoleum  at Holy Cross Cemetery.
