Floyd Richard Beatty

Floyd Richard Beatty, age 85, passed away May 12, 2018.
Richard was born on September 17, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to the late Floyd Everett Beatty and Kathleen Werner Beatty.

He began working for The Dime Bank part-time as a messenger while he was in high school in  1947. Through numerous bank name changes and consolidations, he managed many different bank branches and was in Private Banking when he retired from National City Bank (now PNC) as assistant vice-president in 1994 after 47 years of service.

He was a member of the American Institute of Banking and served one term as president.
Richard was a reservist in the United States Marine Corp and was called into active duty to serve stateside during the Korean War. He was involved in Kiwanis, United Way campaigns and Junior Achievement.

Dick greatly enjoyed riding his bicycle and camping for a week on GOBA (Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure) every summer for 25 years with his family and friends. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working out at The Wellness Center. He was a Boy Scout when he attended St. Sebastian Grade School and served as an assistant Scout Master when his sons attended St. Sebastian School. He is a member of St. Hilary Catholic Church.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Catherine Booth.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years,, Marjorie Eloise (Bates) Beatty; and their three children, Kenneth Michael Beatty and his wife Katherine Hunlock of Rocky Hill, CT, David Richard Beatty and his wife Diane of Norton,OH, and Laura Eloise Haramis and her husband Daniel of Norton, OH. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Marie Beatty Bearer (George), Kathleen Victoria Wilson, Megan Kathryn Bell (Gordon), Kevin Daniel Haramis and Rhiana Hiller; and great-grandchildren, Mason and C.J. Bearer, and Joshua Hiller. He also leaves nephews, Col. (Ret.) Robert L. Baldwin, Jack J. Booth and niece, Kathy Booth Horvath.

Calling hours 4-7pm Tuesday, May 15 at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd in Fairlawn.
Mass of Christian Burial 9:30am Wednesday, May 16 at St. Hilary Catholic Church.
Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
