Anna Maltempi

Anna Maltempi, age 94, passed away May, 10, 2018.

Mrs. Maltempi was born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 27, 1923. She moved to Oliveri, Italy with her parents at the age of two, where she spent most of her young adult life before returning to the United States in 1953.

Anna worked as a seamstress for both Kramers Mens Clothing Store and O’Neils Department Store before making her life long dream of opening a restaurant with her husband a reality in 1975, when they opened Dontino’s Italian Ristorante in Akron. Many of her family recipes have become the mainstay at Dontino’s and continue to be enjoyed today.

She enjoyed spending her summers in Italy with her husband, cooking family dinners on Sunday, and playing cards with her many friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as an incredible cook, but the job she cherished the most was being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua and Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francesco and Maria Celona, and her husband, Vincenzo “Dontino,” Maltempi.  Mrs. Maltempi is survived by her son, Carlo (Salvatrice) Maltempi of Tallmadge;  grandchildren, Vincent (Laurie), Frank (Heidi), Daniel (Amy), Anthony (Michelle) and Anne; great-grandchildren, Salvatrice, Carlo, Dale, Lucia, Molly, Charlie, Vincenza, Eliana, Valentina and Vincenzo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00PM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic  Church, 91 North Avenue, Tallmadge, OH with Fr. Mike Mautsz officiating.
Visitation will precede the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:00am at the church.
Entombment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of other remembrances donations may be given to Catholic Charities Community Services of Summit County, 812 Biruta St. Akron, OH 44307 or Absolute Hospice, 339 East Maple St. Unit 115 North Canton, OH 44720.
