Gene T. Rourke

Gene T. Rourke, born January 5, 1926 in New York, N.Y., was welcomed to heaven by his wife of 65 years, Dolores on April 12, 2017.

Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur, Joseph, Raymond; and parents, Agnes and Joseph. He leaves behind his children, Mary (Tony), Thomas (Cheri), Joan (Rick), and David (Frances), and his sister, Lucy. He also loved to spend time with his grandchildren, Mandy (Sean), Matt, Kelly, Katie, Ashley, great-grandson Sean, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene joined the Navy in 1944 and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Burrows during WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal, European Theatre Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, and the Victory Medal. He went on to a long career in real estate and started his own company, Gene Rourke Realty, in 1983 and continued to work until 2004.

Gene loved to play cards, cook, visit the casino, and spend time with his family and friends.

The family invites you to calling hours on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Trail in Cuyahoga Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.

Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park where the American Legion Post 281 will conduct military services.
