Elizabeth Caiola (nee Alexander)
Elizabeth Rose Caiola passed away on August 28, 2012, in Waterford, MI at age 92. Her husband Stephen predeceased her in 2003. As a long time resident of Akron and for several years of Pinehurst, NC, Elizabeth was an active volunteer in church and community organizations. She will certainly be remembered for her sewing expertise manifested in vestments worn by the priests of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Cuyahoga Falls, OH during the 1960’s, beautiful clothing, even drapes and slipcovers in the homes where she and Steve lived. Happiest of all memories will be of Elizabeth’s Ginger Rogers to Steve’s Fred Astaire whenever and wherever they heard music.
Elizabeth will be mourned and missed by her three children; Stephen Michael (Judith) Caiola of Chapel Hill, NC, Cynthia (David) Collins of Beverly Hills, MI and Carol (Frank) Gwirtz of Middlefield, OH. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Karen Kleiman of Austin, TX, Jeffrey Caiola of Chapel Hill, NC, Nathan Gwirtz of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew Collins of Hastings on Hudson, NY, Gregory Caiola of Decatur, GA, Sarah Collins of Chicago, IL, Vincent Gwirtz of Middlefield, OH and Stephen Collins of Chicago, IL, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Hilary’s Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. Fairlawn, OH 44333, on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Friends and family may gather at the church for visitation one hour before the mass. Interment will take place following the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. All attendees are invited by the family to a luncheon at St. Hilary’s following interment.
Memorial donations may be made to Clausen Manor-Memory Care, c/o 39 S. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, OH 44333.
