Charlotte Ann Horvath (Smith)
Charlotte (age 71) is without pain at last, having succumbed to cancer December 29, 2016, at VNS Hospice on Ridgewood, following a 3 month illness.
She was born July 8, 1945, in Youngstown and grew up in Shadyside and Massillon, attending Massillon St. Mary Catholic School and Canton Central Catholic High School. She received her RN Diploma from The Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing. Charlotte was employed at Barberton Citizens Hospital for twenty years, 7 years of which were as head nurse on 4 South.
She was an active volunteer at Copley-Fairlawn Schools and PTA, Cub Scout Pack 3390 and Boy Scout Troop 390 where she mentored 78 Scouts with their Eagle Projects in the past 25 years. She was also a patron and costume designer at Weathervane Playhouse where she expressed her artistic abilities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth and Kathrine Smith and is survived by loving husband, Jim and son, Ryan. She is greatly loved and missed.
We would like to express our thanks to the medical professionals who attended to her in her last 3 months and to Pastor Jean from Faith Lutheran Church.
Pastor Jean Hansen will officiate funeral services 11:30am Saturday,Jan 7 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2726 W. Market St, Fairlawn OH 44333, where friends may call 10am until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Great Trail Council-BSA, Weathervane Playhouse or Faith Lutheran Church.
