Ann Kelley Obituary

Ann C. Kelley, 60, beloved wife, mother, and friend returned to God March 22, 2024.
Ann was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 22, 1964 to Earl G. and Dorothy K. Cummings. Ann
was the most caring, compassionate person and she had a boundless capacity for love. Her life
was dedicated to helping children and supporting all people in their times of need and as they
navigated life’s difficulties. She sought out truth and worked for peace and justice in all her
deeds.
Her family was the most important thing in her life. Her husband Tom, sons Jordan (spouse
Sarah Pinter) and Aaron (spouse Isabella Petit) meant everything to her. She is preceded in
death by her father, Earl. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy, sister Amy Dziad (Peter), and
brother William Cummings (Alyssia).
She began her career in education at Nordonia Hills City School District, where she taught high
school math. After the birth of her children, she taught math at Akron University and then
transitioned to school counseling. She worked as an elementary school counselor at the
Broadview Heights City School District until her retirement in 2022.
Beyond her career, Ann was generous with her time, volunteering with a number of causes. She
started The Family Room at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Brecksville, to organize family
activities for those in need; arranged gift giving and support programs for children from
economically disadvantaged and underserved families; served as a High School Advisor to the
Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Nordonia High School; was a passionate and engaged
political activist; gave time with CitizenScience; and was trained as a Diversity, Equity &
Inclusion Specialist through the American School Counselor Association.
Sailing became a passion of Ann’s at a young age, and some of her fondest memories came
sailing on her boat, Felicity, with friends and family at Catawba Island and on Lake Erie. She
was also an avid gardener.
Words cannot describe the depths of her incredible character, strength and grace; the love she
put into this world; nor how much love it returned to her.
