Desma Maria Girard (Rizopulos)

Desma Maria Girard (Rizopulos), 39, passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born December 28, 1978 in Akron, she was the daughter of the late Maria (Rizopulos) and Thomas Girard.

A warm, compassionate, independent woman, Desma immersed herself in her education, graduating from the University of Akron in 2003, kept fit through exercise and reached out to help whenever needed.

She was especially devoted to her dogs, Boston, Sam, and Parker, who were everything to her. Thank you, Rick Fullen, for your compassionate care of Desma’s beloved pets. Desma was a talented chef and baker and founded and managed Uniquely Greek Catering Company.

Desma leaves behind loving uncle, Peter Rizopulos (Annette); a brother and a nephew; cousins, Fran and Nicholas Karnazes, James and Alexis Rizopulos (Mara and Cali), Tia and Greg Kuchik (Keira), many caring friends, especially David and Paula Prentice and family, and a special Godchild.

She made many acquaintances over the years working in healthcare at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Wellness Center and through her catering business.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 11 from 6-8pm at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd, Fairlawn OH 44333. A remembrance service officiated by Father Andrew Lentz will begin at 7:30pm.

Private inurnment at Mt Peace Cemetery.

Dearest Roche and Dominic, our thoughts and pains are with you. First your mom, then your Dad and now your sister. So very saddened to see you go thru this loss again, and for your sister. I see by the obituary that you and Dominic are not mentioned. Same games played when your mom passed. So very sorry you have to go thru this again. Roger and I are a phone call away if you need us. Stay strong. Terribly tragic.
