Marjorie Imperial

In Akron, Ohio on Monday, February 5th, 2018 at 9:55 p.m., Marjorie Imperial had survived the passing of her husband Andrew by 10 years, her sister Mary Jean by 2 years, her father Charlie and mother Marguerite by 46 and 48 years respectively. She's gone to be with them all now.

Margie was always a people person. Her good looks, sense of style, ready smile, and sharp wit, often led her to the center of attention, where Andy found her 68 years ago at the age of 25. They were a beautiful, talented, and ambitious couple.

After several years of marriage without children, they decided to adopt a boy and a girl to raise as their own, whom they named Brooks and Barbara. The Imperials led a rich life in West Akron in a broad circle of dear friends who entertained each other often in their clubs and homes as Akron matured in the post war era.

Andy was the breadwinner, Marge the homemaker, and the kids played freely with other kids in the neighborhood. West Akron in the 50s and 60s mirrored Leave it to Beaver, Ozzie and Harriet. Everything was just so, with roles unspoken/understood, and Marge’s deft touch evident at every turn.

The family vacationed in Florida most years, and lived in a nice house on Delaware which Marge continuously decorated, painted, papered, refloored, and enhanced her entire life. She never stopped improving her home and was able to remain in it until the end.

Later in life when the kids were gone, Marge read 3 newspapers from cover to cover each day, she always had a book she was working on, and she remained keenly interested in the world. While Andy succumbed to Alzheimers in his last years, Marge had the good fortune to keep her mind and her sense of humor. Even near the end, when company came over, the years would melt away and she would perk right up.

She so loved her friends. The family would like to thank all of Marge's helpers for their loving care of her at home these past years.

Calling hours will be 4-7pm Friday at the Ciriello and Carr Fairlawn Chapel (39 S. Miller Rd).

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Saturday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church.
