Attorney Dominic Musitano Jr.
Attorney Dominic Musitano Jr. (83) passed away peacefully, on his own terms, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Rockynol Nursing Home in Akron.
Dominic was born on July 17, 1933 in Campbell, Ohio to Dominic Sr. and Carmel. He attended Ohio University and the University of Akron from 1951-1954 where he majored in Political Science and English and was President of the Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
Most importantly, OU brought Dominic to meet his future wife, Evelyn, with whom he spent 62 beautiful, joyous years with and had three children: Lori, Dominic III and Michael.
He received his law degree from Akron Law School in 1959 and practiced law for 50 years. Dominic was very heavily involved in his community in the Akron area, where he spent the remainder of his life. He served on the University of Akron Advisory Committee, was a Democratic Committeeman in Bath Township, a Treasurer for the Young Dems of Summit County, served on the Copley-Fairlawn School Board, served as the Campaign Coordinator for both Judge Mary Cacioppo and Judge John W. Reece, and served as a Special Assistant to the State Attorney General. Dominic also held many community memberships with organizations such as the Ohio State Bar Association, Akron Bar Association (Past Chairman of Family Law Committee), Fairlawn Kiwanis Club (Past President), Sons of Italy (Akron Lodge 685), Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital Association (Board of Trustees), and the American Arbitration Association. He was also recognized with the Outstanding Service Award by the United Cerebral Palsy organization and with the Boss of The Year Award in 1985 by the Greater Akron Legal Secretaries Association.
Outside of his professional life and community involvement, he enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, New Jersey, watching his New York Yankees, reading Tom Clancy novels, and playing cards at the Sons of Herman. Dominic always had a knack for picking the right horse and having the right card in the end.
Dominic never met a stranger, always brought joy and happiness to the room, and took a genuine interest in those around him. He touched so many lives and will be forever remembered for his kind nature. His last days were spent surrounded by family and leading his own hospice and funeral meetings to ensure they were handled efficiently.
Dominic is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Lori (Rocky) Robinson; sons, Dominic (Jill) and Michael (Anne); grandchildren, Taylor, Tony, Tucker, Cassie, Sonny, and Sal; brother, Joe (Kathy); sister-in-law, Mary Lou; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family may call 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 14, 2017 at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn, where Funeral Service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday.
Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
